People, People Doctors and Pickleball

Another week has flown by. We did some walking around this week and saw these trees. Interested mainly because they appear to be pine trees (we must avoid the Processionary Pine Catepiller at all costs. I'm not kidding), but the size and shapes were also intriguing.

I continue to struggle because of losing my phone. I am now keenly aware of how very many accounts and memberships, etc. have 2-factor authentication and almost always use my US cell number to text me codes. Which is currently impossible. All because of evil people who steal from others.

We’ve seen most of our new friends this week. Cynde and Chris from NH came to play Pickleball with us. Scott did manage to hit the ball off the terrace and had to retrieve it from the parking lot below. Hahaha! He had decreed that if someone does that, the opposing team automatically wins the game!

We also invited them to the Faro Meet-up/Language Exchange on Wednesday. This is organized by Joss and she does an amazing job with it. A fun time practicing Portuguese was had by all. Then last night we went with them to one of the events of the 8th annual Faro International Guitar Festival.

We also made some more new friends just this morning. In January I participated in a DIY Travel Trip Summit hosted by Jedd (from Hawaii) and Michelle (from Oregon). They have been house/pet sitting in Lagos, Portugal recently and were coming to Faro this morning. So we met them for coffee. Super people that we hope we’ll see again! They are returning to Oregon soon, but will likely be back in Portugal at some point.

Scott had a doctor’s appointment and MRI (on his knee) this week. I developed a urinary tract infection. Thanks to our healthcare concierge I was able to get a video appointment late yesterday and we live close to a 24-hour pharmacy. The doctor prescribed the wonderful med that makes you STOP feeling like you have to pee every 5 minutes (I daresay most, if not all, women know what I’m talking about) and an antibiotic. Apparently, people-meds are dispensed primarily in blister packs in boxes rather than plastic bottles. I have NEVER seen antibiotics like this…. The doctor said she was prescribing 2 “sachets”. Now I know what that is. I got 2 packets of a powder. Last night I was to mix one with water and drink it. Tonight I have another. That’s it. 2 doses ingested in liquid. And it had a good orange taste to it. I think this is kind of fantastic. And also, the 2 prescriptions were a total of €17.28. That's right, 2 prescriptions, no separate insurance card, less than €18.

We hope to see our other friend named Michele (1 “L”) later today or maybe tomorrow. My phone issues caused me to miss her call asking if I wanted to go see the new Bridget Jones movie. I surely would have gone! Waaaaa!

The funnest thing coming up is that Hope will be here February 20th to visit for several days. So excited!! And not just because I’m expecting her to bring me some Duke’s mayo! 😉

Alright y’all, stay safe and try not to get too dragged down by the nuttiness going on! Come see us!!!
